I guess there will be no way around brushing up my fundamentals first before jumping into a bigger project. No framework in between that could make its workings more opaque than necessary. To clarify after respone, ideally there would be a tutorial on creating a 303 clone from scratch, describing its functionality in detail and reference to other docs in order to understand other concepts more in depth and with nothing more than a generic sound API that takes sound data (in whatever format). I hope can provide me links to books/docs/tutorials/opensource synths that are suitable to learn from as a beginner like me and a community where I can post my noobish questions.
My goal is to write a 303 synth, something along the lines of Propellerheads Rebirth from the 90s. I have played around with trackers, rebirth and an actual 303 before but my actual technical knowledge when it comes to sound is quite small (other than writing a MIDI parser/converter and some smaller stuff).
